Dance

My project

Hello happy people!

My name is Chloe and you are on my blog about my big adventure. For a year or so, I’m going to travel the world and meet people who, like me, love dance.

Where on earth did I get this idea? Well, I’m currently 26 and writing these words behind a computer in a bank in London where I am IT project manager.

The thing is I don’t feel in the right shoes where I’m standing now. So, I decided to take a year off and achieve this big project turning in my head for several years now.

This project is the perfect mix between everything (or almost) that I love:

  • Traveling
  • Dancing
  • Creating memories that I can share
  • Sharing my view of this beautiful world that we are living in

My parents make me travel through Europe and the US. They definitely triggered my curiosity about the world (and I can’t thank them enough for that). One day, I was old enough to travel by myself. I continued traveling through Europe and a bit further first to Morocco and then to Cambodia. This last one was the crash test: Am I able to travel for 2 months in a completely different environment from what I know? I loved it! I didn’t want to come back! After that, I knew that one day I will travel for a long term.

Traveling is an experience in itself but I wanted a purpose to this journey (in French I will call this “un fil rouge”). The objective is to exchange with local people even if we don’t speak the same language. Maybe, for some of you, it seems impossible, but I consider art as a language and especially dance for me. With simple movement you can share a feeling, history, and so much more.
I had the idea to try to learn the local dance as I’m traveling around the world. It’s a way to discover the culture more intimately than simply visiting the place of interest (I will do that also of course).

You can imagine that I’m going to take a lot of pictures and video during this trip. However, having several hundreds of files on my computer doesn’t interest me. I want to do something with this content, share it with my family, my friend and the people that, like me, love traveling. Well, the modern way to that is to create a blog. I’m not completely new at this job. I’ve been blogging for quite some time in my free time but it is going to be the first time that I can really put some effort and time into it.

With this blog, I hope I will be able to share my view of our planet. Far away from the scary vision that the television or other media are spreading. To be completely honest, I’m sometimes tired to hear “you are traveling [complete with a place where the person been to], watch after yourself it is dangerous”. What is unknown can be scary, but, in my experience, most of the time it is not dangerous. You will meet people that are so happy that you are coming to their home and will want to show you the beauty of their culture, city…
When you’re traveling watch after yourself as much as you are doing at home and keep smiling. You will attract good people, I sure of it.

Now you know all about the geneses of my project. What are your thoughts about it? What will be you “fil rouge” if you were about to travel long term?
